I love Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd and usually don't like when another group does a song that a group has made, but Shinedown has done an excellent job at this one. I don't think anyone else could do this song like they did. The cd it's self is really good.
Horrible

This song is horrible compared to the Lynyrd Skynyrd version,
So if you think this song is good (which its not) then you might want to listen to the original.

I am completly rocked to my soul with this version of an already great song...I saw Skynyrd (with Ronny) three times in the 70's and hold them at the top of the rock pile...this cover is nothing less than a tribute as far as I am concerned...Ronny would be proud... I just purchased Shinedown's album and I'm sure I will like it... I promise you this, I WILL go see Shinedown when they come around! Peace...

1st time i heard it I was obsessed ...had to find out who touched my heart and put a big "Ol" lump in my throat...WOW>>>and found the other version as well...Let's just say the writer of the song- the voice behind it- combined w/ the melody as I may call it.YES SIMPLE but a grand taste..
. think of my brother,,,, accept every single word in "Simple Man"--b4 he left our living world he fulflled, "Ol Girl", (mom for short) every wish strangly sung ...It brings a great comfort knowing we have such talented people all over..THANK YOU....
Great track, no need to compare

Perfect two thumbs down, far down really bad, a diaster. Yet it's one of the better songs written by this group you can say. Most of there songs have no point to it at all this one does, sort of/kind of. Remember it's my opinion not yours but mine counts and yours doesn't, never ever in your life.
Awesome!

By some person who likes music so much he write reviews that no one reads
This is an AWSOME remake of Lynyrd Skynyrd's song. Although they both are flipping awsome, Lynyrd Skynyrd, I think did it better.

I like it-it is somehow more soulful than the original Skynyrd version (& I love Skynyrd).
I Prefer The Lynyrd Skynyrd Version

The Southern Rock Genre is about Raw Talent. This song displays it at its best. Stunning Vocals. It continues the pureness of music that Lynyrd Skynyrd provided.

Say what you want about Skynyrd'd being classic and shouldnt be covered. This is the best version of this song i have ever heard. Yes, even including Skynyrd's. I know the vocals in the song arent pitch perfect but it still works with the song. It sounds great and after listening to shinedown's version about 4 or 5 times, any version you listen to afterwards will sound inferior. They jus do this song perfectly in my opinion
