This album made their comeback solid. When it was first released I had it on repeat for months. Switchfoot makes music with meaning. Huge fan still.

Yes, this album is different from Hello Hurricane & Vice Verses...also different from Fading West & Where the Light Shines Through. But Switchfoot still comes through loud and clear on each track. Take My Fire...loved hearing that last fall before the prime time college football games on ABC/ESPN. This band is the best around.
Sorry Guys!

Ummmm....Switchfoot is kinda weird now. I get that practically every artist is an “unorthodox jukebox” but it has to at least sound good first! In just my opinion, Jon Foreman is singing in a pitch that doesnt really do his voice justice. Listen to the past albums and you will understand what i mean. Now he sounds really...somber and whiny. Every song has nearly the same theme and sound. Im sure other probably younger fans are eating this up but im sure SF has nearly bored and lost their 27-40ish year old fans (I’m 27). I have always liked them for standing out in the alternative and faith based industries but now this just really sounds like...a sad youth pastor. I am SOO sorry! But i stopped listening to them after Hello Hurricane/Vice Verses. The only positive thing i can say is Jon Foreman writes really, really well
Switchfoot Is Back

Switchfoot has always been one of the most diverse and unique acts in the modern arena of Christian Rock. And this album is a true expression of the creativity and innovative musical craft and lyrical genius of Jon Foreman and friends. ‘Prodigal Soul,’ ‘Native Tongue’ and ‘The Hardest Art’ are my favorite songs on this record.
Very good

It’s a very good album it gets you moving and pumped up more for the Lord God Jesus Christ Almighty King and it’s one of those albums that you can get tired of listening to

I love how everyone says this is a shift in style. Not really. I've listened to Jon Foreman sing stuff like this for years. Switchfoot has always been pop with some guitar. Not hearing the guitar so much yet, but it works. Sounds similar to their Fading West album.
Listen closely, the chord progressions are straight from the initial Switchfoot big hit records.
The song Let It Happen is a slight variation of Dare You To Move.
One of the Best Bands Ever

Just when you think Switchfoot can’t get any better, they drop an album like this one. Jon Foreman has to be one of the greatest and most soulful lyricists of our time, if not of all time. They really did a fantastic job with this one.
One of their best

What can I say. This album really does showcase the best of what Switchfoot is. This band always does things that they haven’t done before, but still keep their heart / roots intact. Listen to it. It will make you dance, cry, head-bang, and fall in love with Switchfoot all over again!
Strange but fun

I’ve been listening to switchfoot forever but when I first herd this album I labeled the songs ether pirate music or alien but now all the songs are stuck in my head
Smashing Expectations....

Switchfoot's latest offering is a colorful introspection. Great melodies and songwriting give way to a more melancholy sort of vibe. Really enjoy the soaring harmonies on "All I Need" and the more poppy "Voices", but "Dig New Streams" is a welcome monkey wrench thrown in for good measure. The record is super polished with every beat and sound perfectly positioned in the mix. "Joy Invincible" is sure to help bring you out of a rainy day with it's message of hope. "Wonderful Feeling" and "The Strength to Let Go" are great worship anthems. One of my favorite tunes is "We're Gonna Be Alright" with its snappy beat and fun springlike weather peaking out behind the clouds. This record has a theme of surrender and returning home which is why it may come accross as offensive to some. I do not fault the band for not making an album like all the others. Thanks for Smashing Expectations and giving us fans a snapshot in time along your musical timeline.
Fresh and spectacular

How can this band still make me shake my head with passion, eyes closed, making me feel like a teenager experiencing their sound all over again?! I’m laying here in bed while my wife sleeps with this album on repeat, softly singing the melodies ... feeling like the band has somehow been peeking into this season of my life. Each song strikes with incredible melody while mixed with powerfully written real life experiences. My favorite album thus far. Well done boys! 👊🏽💥

Been following Switchfoot since day 1, this album is just not them. Not good. A few good songs, but the majority is awful
Disappointed, I should have just bought a few songs instead of the full album

There are a few bands I buy the full albums every time. Switchfoot was one. A few songs are good but most are hard to listen to. Go back to the old Switchfoot. Sadly, I can’t count on buying the full album anymore for these guys.
Well at least they're back

Im glad they decided to keep on producing, but the up-beat rock like "dare you to move" and "meant to live" just sticks out to me more. This is "good" music, but I'm missing the rock band part :p which is why I like them so much.
