When you can go back to an album from 1994 and listen to it as if it just came out, it says alot about the artist. Madonna at her best! She worked with a handful of R&B producers and still stayed true to who she was during this time and the end result was a fabulous album. Beautiful soft ballads and mid tempo songs. From track one to track eleven you want be disappointed! Not going to point out any songs because the entire album is great....

Coming back from difficult years (the EROTICA era), Madonna managed to stay sane and produce one of the richest albums of the 1990s. Climbing up to #3 on the Hot 100, this album’s first single, “Secret,” is an undervalued jam that enters my personal list of “best songs ever written.” It’s follow-up single, “Take a Bow,” spent seven weeks at #1, becoming Madonna’s greatest ballad. This album might go from R&B to looking down into the future with hints of ambient and electronica with “Sanctuary” and “Bedtime Story,” but still, it sounds like a solid unit—and that’s Madonna’s greatest feature.

I remember buying the CD 26 years ago. Before obsessive fans would camp out at midnight at Tower Records to buy the exact moment it could be released. Bedtime Stories came at an uncertainty in Madonna’s career if she would be accepted by the public after all the Erotica era had caused. She pushed the boundaries so hard people turned against her which affected her career, her musical charts & popularity. Did Madonna care? She’s human, she’s an artist. During a time where Grunge Rock was taking over & R&B was ruling the radio waves, where would Madonna turn too? This was a perfect time! Perfect time to turn her sadness, her rage into a R&B experimental Trip Hop, Dance infusion! She took chances & made a a delectable delicious dreamy album of gems. 26 years ago my life of my own was heading into uncertainty and 26 years later me & Madonna will always have that soul connection.
