Reviews

  • Sound quality is not very good

This was such an amazing show, i'm so disappointed that the drums are so muffled into the backround compared to Rush's other live recordings
  • Ouch......

Thankfully they have released plenty of other live albums to keep any true fan happy, this is just not one of them. Geddy sounds like an old man that should not be behind the mic. This makes this album nearly unlistenable...... the music is fantastic..... i just wish it was instrumental. Not a great way to go out.

What an amazing live set. Geddy Alex and Neil sound as good as ever! I have seen them live probably a dozen times and never heard them play "Analog Kid", one of my favorite Rush tunes. I wish I would have made it to a show on this tour. Legendary band and legendary musicians. Their music never gets old. Go get a copy of this if you haven't already.

Why are some of you saying Subdivisions = 2112? No where on MY 2112 album is Subdivisions. Nonetheless, Rush is an awesome group and any music Apple gives you will be first rate.
  • Incredible

The tour is incredible but my only minor problem is that they didn't play the BU2B songs
  • Amazing Album!

I really love this album; the addition of the string section in some songs truly enhances their overall quality, especially Red Sector A and YYZ!

I've read the very few BAD reviews and it's funny how some try to capture the intellect of Peart in the review by using BIG vocabulary! Number one, these three are by far the best or at very least at the top 1 percent. I've seen them 27 times since 1974 and they've only climbed higher on the function scale towards excellence! All the "idiots" who write bad reviews are obviously deaf or partially, blind or close to it, and have zero musical intellect. I play the drums and guitar and have always had fellow musicians, then and now, only dream of having an ounce of talent these three have. I hope these guys keep making ears happy for another twenty years because I will be there to hear them. Keep rocking on!
  • Great, but Strained Performance

With this release, I find myself excited, as the setlist and the performances instrumentally are all excellent... but one has to ask why on earth they chose to release a show from so LATE in the tour. Geds voice is tired from the tour here, and its clear that hes having some difficulty hitting the notes that he hit easily in the beginning of the tour. I know he sang wonderfully in the beginning because I was at the first show that they played! They sounded phenominal! Here, though the performances are still admirable, the vocals are clearly strained out by Geddy (though, thankfully they aren't so bad they ruin the album), and its a shame they couldn't have picked an earlier show as it would prove how well Geddy can still belt out these songs.
  • The vocals are just awful

The musical talent of these guys is amazing beyond words. But this concert must have been at the end of the tour because Geddy's singing is just terrible this time out. Very disappointing.
  • Great Concert

I was a bit skeptical at first when Rush announced they would be playing with a string section, but there are parts of the concert without the string section, and even the parts that they play on ae not bad at all. They rely heavily on the new album as well as some 80's stuff, but over all its a great concert from one of rock's most enduring bands.
  • Exceptional Live Rush - At their Best!

I bought this 3 Disc live CD that is new in 2013. What i was not expecting was the exceptional high quality of Sound Production regarding this Fantastic Concert! In short, listening to this incredible music that is comprised of fantastic musicianship, the Violin Section really adds to the entire live music experience and if you are Rush fan than this entire 3 disc or iTunes Collection is a Must Have!
  • Shocking…then again its not surprising

They keep doing this sporadically beginning with Roll The Bones and now this. The production of the live sound is so atrocious as to be unlistenable. Of course you will always have a sycophantic fan-base that will accept anything regardless of the quality. My suggestion is that Rush make the right choice in terms of experts who can translate their true concert sound and not this nonsense they have put out…yet again..think Vapor Trails for a studio album that they have thought to reissue after the garbage originally put out - I wonder why! Folks..this ain’t that hard. Listen to groups like Porcupine Tree that are capable of pristine production values and many other bands such as even ACDC who came out with a fantastic sounding live album recorded at a soccer stadium no less. I am done spending money on this. After being a fan since 1983….I stopped purchasing a few years ago after the Vapor Trails debacle and took a chance with their R30 concert and was pleasantly surprised. Now this and its deja vue all over again. Enough…I’m done!!!
  • AMAZING SHOW!

I must say, My brother Richard is truly their BIGGEST FAN, I grew up with him blaring Rush day and night! So like a big brother I did not care for them. HOWEVER after 20 years he convinced me to go to THIS show... I was BLOWN AWAY! ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!! I knew the music from a childhood of making fun of it (ha ha) But it was truly INCREDIBLE! Well done, and FLAWLESS AUDIO, crisp and wonderfully produced!!! I am so happy I went..And yes! I was WRONG! Great album to own! Take it from someone who was not a fan... This is AMAZING work! I hope they come again!

A great release from a great band. Great musicianship, good mix, and Geddy sounds a bit better than he did on the Time Machine Tour. As for the Clockwork Angels String Ensemble, they were a nice addition to the stage, not too prominent, but not inconspicuous, either. Everything was great on this release. Way to go, boys!
  • Love it

Loved the show, even though I wanted more "old" Rush, I ended up liking this, actually loving this more then most of the previous Rush concerts. Well done boys!!
  • Better than I could have imagined

As a huge fan, i HAD to see Rush live in concert this summer. I witnessed the greatest concert of my life. I admit Geddy's voice has lost a step but you try singing that way for 35 years. Alex and Neil were better than i could have dreamed. I stood in awe as i watched them. The addition of the string orchestra was actually a nice touch too. This album does as good of justice to the music and energy that comes with a Rush concert without having to pay for the concert ticket price.
  • Sounds Great

This might be the best sounding Rush Live album. The timber of the Toms and mix of the different instruments are the best among recent albums. My one complaint is the intro to 2112 is at the end of Tom Sawyer, bad editing of the files.
  • Does Rush ever fail to impress???

I was there, the show was pure perfection, another offering for us mere mortals from the Gods! Even if we all have to "suspend our disbelief”concerning Geddy’s voice...
