This album was great in my opinion, but I'm slightly biased, seeing Boys Like Girls is my favorite band, so I'll try and make this un-biased. How often is a band's sophomore album better then the first? Not often. This album is alot different from the first one, but there was a 3-4 year gap between them. People forget that they grew up within those years. So when Love Drunk came out, they were expecting something a 18 year old would write, not a 23 year old. Martin said that the whole point of Love Drunk was to expand their musical boundaries, to see how far they could push the envelope while still being Boys Like Girls. They spent 3 years touring so they would know which fans would stick by them when they did different things.
As far as the songs go, there is a great mix of slow songs and upbeat songs. I personally think that ‘Contagious’, 'Shot Heard 'Round The World' and 'Go' are a couple of the best songs off this album. So if you want something that sounds like they're old album, go listen to that. Because on this album, Boys Like Girls tried something new.

For anyone that thinks this album is POP, well, either your hearings bad, or you don't know music. If you want to know what a Pop band is, Listen to Jonas Brothers or even Big Time Rush.(Both bands i like as well) Afterwards, you'll find that Boys Like Girls sounds NOTHING like either of them. So what if they changed? Their last album was about high school love, but keep in mind, just like all of us, BANDS GROW UP TOO!!!! they are human just like us. If they wanted something that sounded EXACTLY like their first album, well, THEY WOULD OF JUST RESOLD THEIR FIRST ALBUM, BUT MAYBE CHANGED THE BOOKLET. Get over yourselves. Same with We the Kings and All Time Low. They sound just the same as before. None of them went pop. Guys, this isn't pop. It is alternative. it may not be their old stuff, but guess what? they grew up too. all that emo crap gets old, real quick. Plus, I'm also a HUGE country music fan, so hearing that this album features Taylor Swift made me all the more excited. She's AMAZING. And the harmonies she does with Martin, absolutely breathtaking. I would reccomend every single song on this album. WAY TO GO, BOYS LIKE GIRLS!!! You've stolen my heart yet again!!!!!!! :)

Don't get me wrong, I love Boys Like Girls. In fact, I considered them one of my favorite bands at one point. I'm only rating them three stars because I used to like them.
But I'll be completely honest; I don't like this new sound coming from BLG. The songs are...different. So different from their old album. Different in a way that there's multiple sounds in this album. You have your classic rock (Real Thing), to pop punk (Contagious), and maybe a bit gospel (Someone like you) and country (Two if better than one) in it too. I don't like that there's auto tune (Heart heart heartbreak) here and there, and that the lyrics sound a bit corny.
I still can't believe this is the band that wrote "Thunder". I recommend their first album. It's raw and real; full of emotions, and the lyrics is just...wow. You could relate to the lyrics. Their first album is the reason why I fell in love with these guys.

Ok this is new for me. I like rap, pop, rock and some other kinds of music. Anyway I saw BLG at the Bambozzle Roadshow 2010 and it was great. All the bands rocked the show. All Time Low, LMFAO, Simple Plan and BLG all performed but over all every group there really put on a show. I think people should give this cd a chance and you will like it. Try it and see.
