hatebreed shocases their love to both metal and hardcore music, and even early punk. The biggest problem people will have it, is that there is NO orginal twist to these covers. There is no difference between these covers and the orginals. All they did is re record songs note by note and add Jasta's voice over. Intresting, but not for too long. Ghost of war seems the best one suited for this. Slayer's classic is strong as is, and only gets stronger with Jasta's powerful scream.

This record i exactly what it's supposed to be. A great mix of covers that sum up the music that influenced the band from the days of Jasta 14, Frostbite and higher force. It's be wicked cool if they did a cover album of old CTHC, but this is still great, and something different. Sick of it all, Agnostic Front covers, Bad brains, and Cro Mag? A true HC kid will love this record. I just wish jasta 14 would have done some of these at the boiler room or the tune inn.
Horrible

Great tribute CD! Too bad some of the reviews below don't understand this is a tribute to the metal bands that came before them! It's called... RESPECT!
Should be titled "For the Kitties"

Once you have proved your dominace such as Hatebreed has done there is NOTHING wrong with putting out an album of all covers and Hatebreed has done so with force. I am a huge fan of original Hatebreed material but this album is KILLER!!! hands down... good job!
these reviews are amusing

I'm guessing if you didnt know this was going to be a cover album you must not follow your bands very well then. Yes, it's a cover album. I for one love cover albums, it's great when good bands cover the music that influenced them. Ghosts of War is to die for, it's been one of my favorite Slayer tunes for a long time and when I listened to this cover I was blown away. They gave it that metalcore feel. Other favorites would be Metallica's escape, Refuse/Resist by the great Sepultura, and of course can't argue with some Misfits. It's a cover album, live with it. At least they didn't butcher the songs. They did a good job. So stop rating the album 1 star because you were obvlivious and dumb enough to not even look it up before-hand. thank you.
At least they didn't ruin Merauder

They didn't do most of these bands justice in anyway. They did a pretty good version of Life is Pain though. Beyond that, they don't change anything up at all. The closest they get to something a bit different from the rest of the album is the sing along for Hatebreeders. Seriously though, Jamie does not do the original version justice at all. Just make a mix of the original versions and you'll be much happier.
huh?

I'm a Hatebreed fan going back to when they were on Victory, when "Satisfaction..." was a new album, and when they were runners up in the hardcore game to Earth Crisis. I own all of their albums, and this is the first one I wish I could get my money back on. The Sepultura cover was good, the Crowbar cover was pretty good, but they really should have left most of the other songs alone. Ghosts Of War by Slayer was a huge disappointment right off the bat, his attempt at "singing" the chorus to Metallica's Escape was nearly laughable, and the Black Flag cover was terrible (and who can screw up a good Black Flag cover? Simple chords, add some major league fury, and you got it.) The less said about their cover of the Misfits, the better. (What do you call it when you laugh, cry, and vomit at the same time, anyway?) And to this day, I haven't heard one good Bad Brains cover, so people should stop trying. Not recommended by me, for anything other than completists and idiots that think anything Jamey & Co. does is gold.
sigh

Why would (what I thought) a respectable band ruin such perfect music? This makes me want to listen to the original tracks over and over until I forget "for the lions" ever came out.
Creativeless!!

Why put out an album of covers if all you're going to do is make them sound exactly like the originals??? The Crowbar cover sounds exactly like the original, even the crappy effect on his voice is evident. I love it when bands cover songs and make them songs of their own by changing things and adding their own style to the song. hatebreed does absolutely nothing creative on this album at all and doesn't leave a single mark of their own on any song. The Misfits cover "Hatebreeders" is laughable, one day Glenn Danzig will be rolling in his grave over that one.

of the worlds best bands r coming back with a vengeance. Slipknot, Arch Enemy, Hatebreed, KoRn, Five Finger Death Punch, Otep, Cannibal Corpse even Dethklok, all are or have already released amazing albums that beat the $hit out of pop and spit in its face while stabbing it in the taint. METAL WILL NEVER DIE
NO!!!!!

Love Hatebreed, love the bands they covered (most of them), but this blows. Hatebreed better put out a MONSTER studio album to make up for this pile.
