  • 1 Star: Post And Homogenic were much better

You can definitely tell this was her debut. There were certain songs that just felt picked by a record company to make a good album (although I’m sure Bjork isn’t like that and would let a record company just pick songs for her). Or some tracks felt like fillers, and I just felt that Bjork would be doing way better things in the future. Hardly any good songs on here. This album is an exploration of what I think Bjork would become in a certain scarceness, being that a lot of the themes of her future albums are hardly on here. The only thing I could compare it to in certain ways would be Post, but that’s it. Homogenic she completely threw all this out the window, and then it was Vespertine and forward, and the personally like that direction, just as the direction she took on Post. I would honestly, if recommended from my opinion, just tell a beginner for listening to Bjork to just listen to a few songs on here, such as Human Behavior, Aeroplane, Big Time Sensuality, Come To Me, Violently Happy, and The Anchor Song (not my favorite song, but I think it offers a unique sound from Bjork she didn’t really use too much post second album), then just skip to Post, which I think is a much better album. There are better things ahead in her career, and I don’t think this album is absolutely a pinpoint in her career or for a listener, save for a few songs that really pushed her forward. This album just doesn’t really feel like an entire cohesive listen, it just feels like a debut where the artist is still exploring his or herself. The true highs and lows of story didn’t really happen on here like the rest of her albums. It seemed like songs were just compiled to get her out there. An identity wasn’t fully found, or set in place yet. Overall, a few good songs come out of it, but not as a whole. 1 star

One of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I’m transported back to my 16-year-old life when I hear this album. “Come to me” is especially good and causes me to reminisce. Bjork is a truly unique talent.

Björk is so talented. She is super influential to my life. Björk, if you are reading this, I don't know if you remember me, but I am your second cousin, Julian Glisson. My mom, Roberta, is Matthew Barney's cousin. I met you a couple times when I was little in New York. You are so great. Whenever I play a show, I think of you. Tell Aunt Marsha I said hi :)

I think this is the best Bjork album since Stick Around For Joy with the Sugarcubes, which I love, too. All this music is very nostalgic to me since I was, like, 22 when this came out.

Listen to it. Not like you do other albums. But really listen. Listen at night. Listen at night while you have headphones on. It will be your favorite. You'll over-play it. You'll regret not owning it.
  • Bjork's Most Pop-Freindly Album

I was a fan of The Sugarcubes in the '80s and I was really skeptic about her going solo. For some reason, I had it in my head that The Sugarcubes were the musical geniuses, and Bjork was along for the ride. Little did we all know, B was only beginning her journey of carving her own niche. This album has, by far, her most radio-freindly (At least in the U.S.) work, with tracks such as "Big-Time Sensuality" and "Human Behaviour". However, the album as a whole was well-written, well edited, and the final result is a consistent flow of her quirky style and unique voice. Definitely one of her better albums.

Just rediscovered one of my favorite artists after watching The Professional. I remember when this album debuted 20 years ago. It was perfection then and it still is. I'm glad generations of music lovers now and to come will discover and love this album. To me it's timeless.

It's funny, I always fancied myself an open-minded connoisseur in the music department. But when I first discovered this album at the age of 14, I liked Human Behaviour, but the rest was too strange for me, though I did want to like it. It took years of apathy until I listened to this album again and realised how dumb I was. This is all great electronic music. Especially when you look at the stark contrast between this and The Sugarcubes (which is also good), it ads a third dimension that makes you think "Wow, that's different...but kinda cool." It's very optimistic, very pleasant to listen to, and Bjork has a great voice. Altogether an advantageous work of art.

  • During the 90's one of my metro CDs

This album is one of the CD's I would always bring on my trips out to GMU and is perfect for a 40min metro train ride… It was part of my poetic journey; I would often sucomb to inspiration with these tracks. "Human Behavior," "Venus As A Boy," "Big Time Sensuality," "Come to Me," and "Violently Happy" were such perfect songs… Yet, I've got to give it "There's More to Life Than This!" Amazing track, the song itself without Bjork's vision is cool…but here you'll find the beginnings of her wanting to explore how the music of a song itself may also express the song sentiments.

b jork is legendary queen of electronica...in the 90's when gangsta rap was at its peak Bjork emerged futuristically with sounds like todays music u know all pop/techno songs now I wish the gangsta rap would return but stay on topic at least b jork did not over produced her music nor her voice like nowadays major guest appearance with overproudiced material we forced to listen to...go b jork....
