Reviews

  • This is a wonderful album

I love this album, it's certainly not Staind's best, but it's still really good, and it can really give you a sonic pleasure if you listen to it back to back with their eponymous album for contrast. But I hate this iTunes version because I have to buy the entire album (I have the special edition on CD) just so I can get the one bonus track that is still available - The Truth - and Something Like Me isn't even available anymore, now how am I supposed to find that without pirating it? I want those songs so bad, CD would be best, but I will not buy the entire album so I can get one of the two songs I want out of it.

Well I gotta admit this is the worst Staind album, it's all Post-Grunge aka Commercial Rock. But it's not that bad

I love their other albums - and although this is very mellow by comparison, it really shows incredible talent - great for when I am not in the mood for head-banging.

When I describe Staind to someone who never heard of them, I say one time they will hate you one time they will miss you, one time they love you. They address all emotions we have but each in different albums. I burn most of my favorite Staind music into one MP3 CD and listen to it in my car or when i write and it feeds me every emotion i need. Thanks Staind.

I've read most of the other reviews and I enjoy reading the negative reviews if they are colorful enough. I read so much that I was convinced this would be a huge boring disappointment. I was wrong! Don't expect this to be the heavy, angry guys from 1999. Face it, like another reviewer said, they're old! They're not gonna be jumping around for kids and tearing **** up. They're trying to reach a comfortable state of music appropriate for their age. This is mellow, laid back, sleepy sometimes, and rarely heavy. You may enjoy it even more if your suffering from a hangover. Good jams to crash out to or even better, to introduce someone to Staind who isn't a fan of the heavy stuff. Some song parts resemble "old Staind" but they are few and far between if not just flecks of its former self. Bottom line: If you're expecting a heavy "Break The Cycle" or "Dysfunction" good time: look elsewhere, skip this, or borrow it. If you do like the mellow stuff done right then look no further. Perfect for cruising the back woods and chillin with someone special in the evenings. Anytime a quiet chill time is preferred.

i will admit that this is a very album with mellow rock and slow tracks, especiall the song Tangled Up In You (but that song is one of my favorites and its Beautiful!) Staind is incredable and this album is one of there best and the "illusion" here is people believing staind is goin downhill, there is no illusion of progress with this album cause its amazing from This Is it(Track 1) all the way down to The Truth(Track 2) and the video is also a great hit! The songs are all differant and dont sound similar and have very great lyrics and each song brings differant types of meaning; and for those who say, "to many mellow tracks" or "since Break the Cycle they have been going down" well, listen to this album again, because there is a fair amount of faster rock songs and some of them are neutral and/or have a little of both a rockin and mellow tone. my favortie songs (in order) are All I want, Believe, This is it, and Tangled up in you are the ones i listen to the most but i love each and every song on this album when it comes down to it so if you are a TRUE staind fan and have read this review well, take a chance on this album because its amazing. rock on staind, and keep up the good work.
  • Did anyone read the discription of this album at the top?

I love all of Staind's albums, from Tormented to The Illusion of Progress. Eventhough, they have changed so much, all of their music is still very powerful. I can't listen to music without any meaning. The review written by iTunes though is so misguided. Saying that all their music is angst ridden, how does that even make sense? And saying, "A clean version of the CD was also released". If you have a problem with the minimal graphic language that Aaron Lewis does use, then don't listen to it. I'm really just upset with the entire review of the album by iTunes. They write positive, helpful, and often times factually accurate reviews about albums and bands. So, what did Staind do to deserve this? Seriously, they didn't "evolve" of the course of a decade. Go listen to "Tormented" and then listen to "The Illusion of Progress" and then tell me they didn't evolve.
  • Another Great collection of songs

To all the people saying that Staind should call it quits, just don't listen to their stuff, because there are some people I included that enjoy this kind of music and lyrics that don't even compare to other more popular artists in todays society that don't seem to put any emotion into their songs. And hey if you don't like their music, start your own band and become more famous than them please!
