I love that Taylor Swift has used her music to speak on social issues. I have been a Swifty for some time now but when I discovered this song and video I really resonate with it. I am transgender and a celibate gay. I have seen the worst behavior and failed arguments against LGBTQIA people coming from Christians who certainly say the things that are on those signs that some people were holding in this video.
Taylor Swift could have remained silent on all issues considered "political", but the fact that she finds a way to say things that are meaningful to people like me who are different is what makes her my favorite musician, as if her talent alone was not already enough.
