This is a great album. Versatile song selection, like Zeppelin. Great guitar work. I really like it. Led Zeppelin got sued by multiple blues musicians for using their music and lyrics. Willie Dixon got a lot of money from whole lotta love. Maybe it’s a compliment. There’s nothing new under the sun, just different ways of doing the same things.

They just keep outdoing themselves! Such an atmospheric work of art.

They had the makings to be truly great but it’s painfully obvious they are letting themselves be led down the woke path of destruction by their “amazing and talented” producer(s). A whole lot of performance in this album but it is a massive yawn. Time for bed.

  • SCREECH POWERS (UPDATED)

I feel like he’s leaning into the screeching, and it’s not helping. I’m on board for the most part until that caterwauling begins. ****UPDATE**** Okay, so after listening to the entire record a handful of times I will say this: “Play Your Game” is not the best indication of the vocal approach on “Palace” as a whole. As a matter of fact, I found most of the vocals on the record to be fine, if somewhat derivative in the Plant/Geddy Lee sense. But overall I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the vocals here. Unfortunately, whoever had the say in making “Game” a single fumbled it, IMO. Musically the band still hasn’t blown me away, but they can play and write fairly memorable tunes. And honestly, people, if we’re going to complain about every band that sounds like Zep, we’re not going to have time for much else. My guess is almost nobody would have made such a ruckus about it of not for his vocal similarities to Plant. Bottom line: if they can keep writing memorable music and figure out how to make the vocals more distinctive, they’ll stick the landing.
  • A real band

Not every song is 5 stars but this band knows exactly what they’re doing. LOVE the album,

The Greta Van Fleet sound is instantly recognizable, yet the band expands their repertoire by incorporating new musical influences. Really like this album.

  • Another forgettable album.

I hoped Starcatcher was an anomaly, an album they hurriedly put together while still riding the wave of massive popularity thus leading to a lot of forgettable filler. Sadly with 'Palace' it's more of the same. A lot of self-derivative filler tracks that don't stand out or move me in any way. They're just there . It doesn't help that Josh Kiszka is screaming or pushing his vocal range beyond its limit a LOT more on this album than in past albums. I guess I just have to admit that they peaked with The Battle at Garden's Gate and they'll never reach those heights again.

Learning more into their “grown man stage” in their music. I am here for it. Some of the songs seem like “too many ideas” in one song. My first listen was “okay” the second and third, I feel it more. Josh’s vocals take me back in time for a second and then bring something completely fresh and new. Their inspirations show completely. Giving “the people” Rock music in today’s world. Heya, Boughten Bliss, and Saw You Stand are my absolute favorites. I just know this album will sound better live. 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Such incredible instrumental talent but limited writing ability. Sounds like all the songs are in the Key of E. Hard to tell one from another. Sad
  • Could Be So Much More

Their debut was strong with a good album to build off off. However, that hasn't happend. They haven't figured out how to carve their own identity. Are they Led Zeppelin? Are they Yes? It's a lot of wanna be Robert Plant vocals and Jimmy Page riffing but misses that mark, which is unreachable. My advice... be you.
  • Some songs should have been instrumentals

Guitar, bass and drums are great, but the vocals and lyrics…. Wasn’t there a producer or someone to say ‘Hmmm, why don’t we redo that vocal? This time choose a pitch and rhythm.’
  • Great!

Most fun and unique modern band out there. Love that they keep pushing their sound and experimenting! The instrumental and atmospheric mixes really add a different levels to their catalog!

Very pleased with this album, it’s definitely one that’s get better with each listen! It stays true to the classic GVF vibe while also exploring new elements. Heart and the Beat, Lost in the Golden, and Dreams You Hold are probably my top favorites of this album so far. But I feel like it will change with each new listen. To me, this album also has a big Tolkien influence, but I think that’s something that’s been noticeable in their music before however it’s full force in PFTP. As someone who’s been a GVF enjoyer since 2021, don’t listen to the haters! This album is great. While nothing will ever surpass the magnum opus that is The Battle at Garden’s Gate, Palace is a wonderful new addition to Greta Van Fleets discography!
