Excited to have new Hilary music. Love the song, love the idea of talking to her younger self and other younger girls out there, giving them a warning about most older men. But it does so in a way as not to shame them, but just a learn from me type scenario. The melody is catchy and the guitar riffs are so fun. Excited for more. I feel like I was the last part of my generation that grew up thinking this same way.
I was always that child that hated being a a child because I couldn’t control the things falling apart that I was able to see even as a child. I was always wanting to be an adult because of how helpless I felt being a child knowing my family had issues that I couldn’t fix.
Another kicker that didn’t help my situation is I was battling my sexuality as a young child and by the time I was a young adult around 17, I started to allow myself to explore that side and in turn, I turned into a young adult that would take the bait of these older gay men that wanted my youth but for all the wrong reasons.
And of course, just like Hillary, I got played and these guys knew exactly what to say to someone like me and I always tool the bait so quick.
12 years later, 30 hits my door and I thank god I have been able to see past these empty words from these people that wanted to drain and rob me of my innocence but in hindsight realized it was me that was draining and robbing myself of my own innocence.
Catchy song and slaps you with the reality of life— best of both worlds.
