I realized today that part of the reason I love and fantasize so much about Earthgang is that they embody everything I love about Atlanta. West Atlanta in particular. On an older project (“shallow graves for toys”) wowgr8 rapped “I’m from the south before they cleaned up, when it was dirty and freaky and it belonged to us” and that’s where I’m from too. This an album for the freaknik babies, nursed on dungeon family and kilo Ali. I mean as soon as I heard the “oomp camp” tag i knew mirrorland was the place for me. Earthgang is a west side shawty’s wet dream come true.
