Yes, a lot of you will come here for we won’t get fooled again and Baba O’Riley. Both tremendous songs, no doubt, but having listened to this song over the last I can’t believe it 50 or so years the songs that I thought were pretty good, turned out to be masterpieces as well. Bargain displays again, the incredible songwriting ability of Townsend, as well as all of the musicians, Daltry’s incredible vocals as well as Townsend’s for that matter. Someday Townsend’s crafty guitar work will be more greatly appreciated. A gorgeous song. Also, the song title The Song is Over. An emotional tune and extremely poetic lyrics. I could easily see this popping up on a Beatles LP. But make no mistake. This is all Townsend. Again, sharing the vocals with Daltry. Synths were still relatively new than and of course, being the genius that he is, Townsend really put it to use on Baba O’Riley. He uses synthesizer on many other cuts, but not overly so. I realize I’m waxing poetic about Townsend, but let me be clear. This album would be nothing without Keith Moon and John Entwhistle.

This is the one. From a time when rock and roll collectively was no longer a sophomore effort. Now the professionals were in the drivers seats. And blissful album after blissful album dropped, slightly topping the ones before. And then The Who dropped this. On a fast track full of champions, they offered up an entirely new gear and left pretty much every contemporary behind. Including Zeppelin, Stones, Doors, Cream, etc. ‘Who’s Next’ set the creative bar so high that arguably only one band since, Queen, has come close to, matched, and possibly exceeded. There hasn’t been this level of original rock and roll genius since.

A squadron of heavy hitting rock standards, with songs to kick your backside and others to break your heart, while some do both. No other album has this many monster rock songs backed up by some of the most beautiful songs by any group ever. For anyone who disagrees, there's four guys on the cover who have a little something for ya.

Apparently "Mastered for iTunes" means turning up the bass and removing all treble, so it sounds like you're listening to it underwater

It's been over 40 years since the release of this album and it still holds up and it's as relivant or more relivant today than when it was first released. Pete wrote a brilliant collection of songs that hold togethermagnificently, and the boys were in top form. It's one classic song to the next finishing with the finishing anthem, Won't get fooled again, to complete their opus. Rolling Stone has it at number 28 of the all time best 100 Albums, it belongs higher than that, there is no question.
